Activists of the Volunteer Center of Dagestan State Medical University in the framework of preparing  pupils for the city Olympiad in first aid conducted training sessions on first aid  for pupils  of «Secondary school No. 12»  named after Sh.A. Ismailov and for students of 1-2 courses of the biological Faculty of Dagestan State University.

   The purpose of the trainings is to develop students’ skills to collect quickly information about the condition of the victim and choose the most rational algorithm of actions in first aid before the arrival of an ambulance, as well as to popularize the knowledge gained.

  During the trainings, the volunteers told the children about how quickly and correctly pre-medical care is provided in emergency situations, about its role, as well as about the mistakes that are most often observed when providing it.

  The training consisted of two parts – theory and practice. First, the activists told schoolchildren and students about the algorithm of actions in emergency situations, how to behave and overcome fear, shock, in order to protect themselves and others.

  «The ability to provide first aid is an elementary, but very important skill. Situations in life are very different. It is literally possible to save a human life  with the help of first aid skills. Everyone should master this skill to the best of their abilities and capabilities.» – the volunteers noted. They also explained that timely and properly provided first aid reduces the treatment time, contributing to the speedy healing of wounds and often being a decisive factor in saving the life of the victim.

   In the practical part, the volunteers taught the children the algorithm of first aid for burns, wounds, fainting, bleeding. The main methods of applying pressure bandages, tourniquet, splints, as well as stopping bleeding and providing first aid for carbon monoxide poisoning and airway obstruction were analyzed. The measures «Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and artificial respiration» were worked out in conditions close to real. All the guys worked out their skills on mannequins under the guidance of activists at the end of the training.
