The Russian-Chinese summer school on dentistry Caspian dental’ started its work at Dagestan State Medical University on 26 May. The events are held within the framework of the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities. To participate in the summer school, medical students from Harbin Medical University (China), Voronezh and Stavropol Medical Universities, as well as students from Uzbekistan studying at DSMU under the double degree programme came to Dagestan.

Before the start of the training, the guests of the republic were met by the Rector of DSMU Visampasha Khanaliev, who warmly welcomed them to the Dagestan land and told them about the history of the medical university. ‘Your arrival to participate in the Russian-Chinese summer school on dentistry is an important event that strengthens friendship and professional ties between our universities. We are proud of the opportunity to share knowledge, advanced technologies and cultural traditions to develop the dentistry of the future together.

During this school, you are expected to attend interesting lectures, masterclasses, clinical cases and, of course, get acquainted with the rich culture of Dagestan. I hope that this time will be not only useful for you from a professional point of view, but will also give you bright impressions and new friendships.

I wish you fruitful work, inspiration and success! May this summer school be another step towards strengthening co-operation between our countries and universities,’ he said.

The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology Tagir Abakarov and Head of the International Department Raisat Kurbanova.

Further communication with the guests took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, in which the guests of the republic shared their impressions of the first days of their stay in Dagestan. The meeting ended with a photo as a souvenir.

Then the students were waiting for classes — first lectures on the basis of the Scientific and Educational Innovation Centre of the university, and after that — practical classes at the clinical base of DSMU — dental clinic ‘Image’.

The summer school will be an important platform for young professionals to exchange experience and includes a rich programme of practical training and theoretical courses. Each training day includes a two-hour lecture and an intensive six-hour practical training programme. All participants will be trained on modern equipment under the guidance of experienced university professors.

In addition to the educational programme, there are cultural events, city tours and joint leisure activities aimed at developing intercultural communication and strengthening friendly ties among future medical professionals.

Following the successful implementation of the project, it is planned to expand cooperation with partners from the PRC and hold similar events in other medical specialities every year.

The organisers hope that the first experience of international interaction will bear positive fruit.
