On 25 May, the Republican Perinatal Centre named after S.-M.A. Omarova hosted the Republican Scientific and Practical Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Topical Issues of Endocrinology’ dedicated to World Thyroid Day. S.-M.A. Omarov Republican Scientific and Practical Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Topical Issues of Endocrinology’, timed to coincide with the World Thyroid and Obesity Day, was held.

Endocrinology is one of the most dynamically developing areas of medicine, so the exchange of experience and professional development of specialists is extremely important. The conference united endocrinologists, therapists, ultrasound and X-ray diagnostics specialists, neurosurgeons from various medical institutions.

Representatives of the Department of Endocrinology of DSMU made reports on topical issues. K.G. Kamalov, Head of the Department, Chairman of the Association of Endocrinologists of the Republic of Dagestan, presented the report ‘Endocrinology and Sports’. Associate Professor of the Department A.F. Karayeva told about ‘New possibilities in the treatment of obesity’. Assistant of the chair D.A. Khaibullaeva made a report on ‘Amiodarone-induced thyroiditis’.

Rector of DSMU Visampasha Khanaliev stressed the important role of the University in the fight against endocrine diseases in the republic: ‘DSMU trains highly qualified endocrinologists, conducts scientific research in this field and provides medical care to patients with endocrine pathology within the framework of various programmes and scientific activities’.
