On Monday, September 15, the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, presented state awards dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Dagestan. The ceremony was held at the Russia – My History Museum. Before the ceremony, the head of the republic congratulated the audience on the holiday.

«This relatively young holiday is based on age-old values that are close and dear to each of us: love for the Motherland, willingness to protect it, respect for our ancestors. It is a spirit of unity and solidarity, trust and mutual respect.

These days in 1741, our ancestors, united in the face of danger, crushed the army of Nadir Shah, nicknamed the «Scourge of the Universe», who brought death and destruction. We managed to protect our native land from invaders only thanks to the courage, solidarity and will of mountaineers of different nationalities, who came to understand that they are strong through their unity and mutual assistance,» said the head of the region.

Among the awardees are teachers, doctors, military personnel, and cultural figures.

Magomed Ismailov, assistant to the Rector of DSMU, was awarded the medal «For Courage». M. Ismailov was noted for his assistance in strengthening state security, courage, bravery and dedication shown in defending the territory of Dagestan from international gangs in 1999.

The title «Honored Scientist of the Republic of Dagestan» was awarded to Zukhra Abusueva, Head of the educational department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Moscow State Medical University, head of the hospital at Makhachkala Maternity Hospital No. 2.

The management and staff of DSMU congratulate M. Ismailova and Z. We wish Abusuev well-deserved awards and further success in his professional activities, good health and well-being.
