The qualifying stage of the republican gala concert «Student Spring — 2026» took place at Dagestan State Medical University. It is significant that this year’s student art festival is dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, which gave the event a special atmosphere of national diversity.

The organization and holding of the creative review was provided by activists of the DSMU Cultural Center under the leadership of director Natalia Zalieva.

The event was held to a full house – the university auditorium was filled to capacity with students, teachers and staff of the administrative building.

The honorary guests of the selection round were the university administration and representatives of the SBI RD «Republican Youth Center» of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan.

According to tradition, the concert opened with the performance of the anthem of the Dagestan State Medical University, but this year its updated youth version was played.

Within the framework of the competition program, more than 50 students demonstrated their talents in various genres and directions. The special feature of the current festival was the diversity of cultural traditions – compositions were performed on stage not only in Russian, but also in Dagestani languages, as well as in English, Indian and Turkish.

The highlights of the concert were the performances of the ensemble of the Cultural Center of the DSMU «Heart of the Caucasus», which presented the dance of the peoples of Dagestan «Potpourri» and the pair dance with tambourines «Image of a Dream».

Special attention was drawn to instrumental performances – virtuoso guitar playing and singing by young talent Jamal Gadzhiev with the works «Our Hearts demand Changes» and «Good Night». The audience was impressed by the playing of folk instruments — the chungur and the drum.

The audience warmly welcomed the duet of Kamila Hajiyeva and Daniyal Shabanov with national compositions in Lak «Urmakhu» and «Zulfiya», as well as Kamila’s solo performance of the touching composition «City of People in Love». The guests of the event were deeply touched by the theatrical production of «Children of War» on May 9, staged jointly with schoolchildren from Gymnasium No. 28 named after Hero of the Russian Federation A.I. Ismailov.

The international character of the university is reflected in the vivid choreographic productions – «Indian Dance» and «African Dance», and especially in the wonderful duets of Rachel and Maryam Sultanova with the song «My heart will go on», Hadjimurad Pashtayev and Erdem Kadir with a composition in Turkish. Rasul Gamzatov’s poem «Eyes of flowers» performed by Patimat Sadulayeva sounded touching.

The highlight of the event was a sports performance by Abdula Fataliev, who demonstrated fortitude and incredible physical fitness.

At the beginning of the festival, the patriotic song «Russia — Caucasus», performed by Samira Ramazanova, was performed, and the final chord of the event was a joint performance by all participants with the song «Russia is us», which symbolized the unity of the student community and the continuity of cultural traditions.

According to the results of the qualifying round, a competent jury will determine the best performances that will represent Dagestan State Medical University at the republican gala concert «Student Spring – 2026». The names of the finalists will be announced in the coming days.

The Student Spring Festival has once again proved that DSMU medical students not only successfully master a complex profession, but also actively develop their creative abilities, preserving and multiplying the cultural traditions of multinational Dagestan and Russia as a whole.
