DSMU launches a volunteer corps in the boarding school “Care”

On June 1, the Children’s Day, the management and students of the Dagestan State Medical University, headed by the acting Rector Suleiman Mammayev, visited the Care Home for Mentally Retarded Children. The students of the boarding school met the guests as old friends, since the representatives of the DSMU are frequent guests of the institution. Students of the university organized a small entertainment program for children with the participation of animators. Fruit was also brought to the children as a gift.

The guests, accompanied by the director of the boarding school Uma Kachalova, toured the departments of the institution, talked with the students, got acquainted with their living conditions. U. Kachalova noted that the bed for hygienic care of patients greatly facilitated the institution staff work and water procedures for young patients.

During the conversation between S. Mammayev and U. Kachalova, an agreement was reached on the opening of a volunteer corps on the sites of the Boarding House with the participation of pediatric faculty students of the DSMU. The director of the boarding school noted that they really need the help of medical volunteers, especially in the department of mercy, where there are bedridden children with concomitant diseases. S. Mammayev supported the idea and noted that it is here that volunteers can express themselves. He instructed the head of the Volunteer Center of the DSMU, Elmira Medzhidova, to form a building, which will mainly include students of the pediatric faculty and prepare them for work in the Boarding House “Care”.

Also, the university administration will provide transport for volunteers.

It was decided that all the necessary arrangement will be done within 7-10 days, and after that the volunteer corps in the Boarding House «Care» will be launced.
