On April 17, the scientific and medical library of Dagestan State Medical University joined the All-Russian annual action «Library Night,» which is being held in Russia for the 15th time. «Library Night» is one of the main cultural and educational events of the country. The theme of this year’s action is «Unity of Peoples — the Power of Russia!»

The event was opened by the director of the library Venera Musaeva. She greeted everyone on behalf of the rector of DSMU Visampashi Khanaliev and noted the importance of such events: «Russia is a unique country that has united hundreds of peoples, languages   and cultures. The year of unity is intended to emphasize that this diversity does not divide, but enriches us. Its key task is to strengthen mutual respect and harmony between all citizens through the support of the unique traditions and languages   of each people.»

 The meeting was dedicated to the southernmost region of Russia and the largest among the seven subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District — the Republic of Dagestan.

The audience was shown a literary and musical program dedicated to Dagestan. On the traditional chungur string instrument, performed by a first-year student of the Faculty of Medicine Lerman Radzhabov, melodies for Dagestan motifs sounded. The poem «Laws of the Mountains» Phase Aliyeva was read by a 2nd year student of the dental faculty Basharat Ismailova. Kamila Hajiyeva, a 4th year student of the dental faculty, performed the musical composition «Russia — Caucasus» and read the poem «When the water rose to the roof.» Patimat Abakarova, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention, read Marian Sheikhova’s poem «Dagestanis,» Elbrus Kurbanov, a 6th year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics, performed the work «Russian Dance» from P. Tchaikovsky’s ballet «Swan Lake» on the violin.

The event was accompanied by a book exhibition dedicated to Dagestan — «Unity of the peoples of the mountain country,» which was prepared by the library staff. Also, a presentation about Dagestan «My Homeland — Dagestan!» Was demonstrated. For students, «Buccrossing» was organized, based on the principle: «read — give it to another,» where the interested person could take the book he liked for free and leave his own in return.

  Activists of the student sector of the Primary Trade Union Organization and the cultural and mass department of the Zvezda creative association took an active part in organizing and holding the event.

The event was held with the participation of employees of the Department of Forensic Medicine: Elbrus Porsukov, Tazhidin Ashurbekov, Lyudmila Bezverkhney, Magomed Ismailov, as well as employees of the Department of Histology: Uma Aliyeva, Tagir Dibirova, Saidat Akaeva and Jamili Tushieva.

 The event was hosted by Kamila Hajiyeva, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Dentistry and Marat Telekavov, a 5th year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics.

For all guests and participants of the event, a treat «At the family hearth» was organized, where everyone could taste the dishes of Dagestan cuisine.

The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
