DSMU won the first place in the Russian Symposium of Paediatric Surgeons and the 31st Russian Scientific Student Conference in Yaroslavl

The delegation of Dagestan State Medical University took part in the Russian Symposium of Paediatric Surgeons ‘Gastrostomies and Intestinal Stomas in Children’ and the 31st Russian Scientific Student Conference ‘Topical Issues of Surgery, Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation of Childhood’, which was held in Yaroslavl.

The event, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Y.P. Guv Department of Paediatric Surgery of Yaroslavl State Medical University, gathered representatives of 44 medical universities from all over Russia.

DSMU was represented by a delegation led by Fatima Meylanova, Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery, and Madina Kurbanova, Assistant of the Department and Head of the Student Scientific Circle. The team consisted of 10 students-rapporteurs who demonstrated the highest level of scientific preparation.

According to the results of the conference six students of DSMU took prizes in different sections: S. Yusupova — 2nd place, S. Yakubova, L. Tinkova — 3rd place, A. Javtakhanov, K. Musaev, A. Nasrulaeva — 3rd place, A. Chopalieva — 3rd place, T. Shikherimov — 3rd place, Z. Gajimuradov, H. Abdulmuslimova — 3rd place. As a result of the aggregate of points the circle of paediatric surgery of our university was awarded the first team place.

This impressive result once again confirms the high quality of education at DSMU and demonstrates the significant potential of our students in the field of scientific research in paediatric surgery.

On Wednesday, 23 April, DSMU Rector Visampasha Khanaliev met with the students and their supervisor and congratulated them on this significant victory. ‘Becoming the winner of such a prestigious event is not only a great honour, but also a testimony of your high professionalism, profound knowledge, perseverance and dedication to the cause of medicine. Your success is the pride not only of our university, but also of the whole republic! I would like to wish you further victories, inexhaustible desire for knowledge, inspiration in scientific work and, of course, application of your skills for the benefit of children’s health!’, he said.

In turn, the students and their mentors expressed their gratitude to the university administration for the opportunity to participate in such events, support of their endeavours and scientific research.
