At the Department of Hospital Therapy of Dagestan State Medical University, the traditional ECG Olympiad for students of 5-6 courses was held. In addition to the students of our university, medical students of the North Caucasus Federal District, Lugansk, Kyrgyzstan took part in it.

The head of the department Jamila Omarova opened the Olympiad with a greeting on behalf of the rector of DSMU Visampashi Khanaliev. She noted that the leadership of the university always supports events that bring students together and contribute to the development and development of professionalism. «The ECG Olympiad is a chance to test yourself in conditions as close as possible to a real clinic, learn to «hear» the heart along a curve and feel the excitement of intellectual competition. You will find interesting clinical tasks, analysis of complex arrhythmias and ischemia, the opportunity to ask questions to expert practitioners. Participation is needed not just to score points, but to gain experience that one day can change someone’s life at the patient’s bedside. The department has been supporting the expert level of ECG analysis for decades, manuals and guidelines are published, courses are held within the framework of student circles and the Olympiad of this level is held for the fifth time,» she said.

Gadzhimurad Dalgatov, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of DSMU, also wished success to the participants of the Olympiad, who noted the high level of digital proficiency of the organizers and students. Tasks included decoding the original ECGs, solving problems and some impromptu.

According to the results of the Olympiad, Gazikhan Omarov (Dagestan State Medical University) was recognized as the winner. The second place was shared by Murad Tadjibov (Ingush State Medical University) and Madina Magomedalieva (Dagestan State Medical University). The third place went to Stanislav Kulakov (Lugansk State Medical University named after St. Luke), Suleiman Albakov (Ingush State Medical University) and Tembulat Umov (Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov).

In conclusion, the participants were awarded diplomas and commemorative books on ECG. A special gratitude was addressed to the heads of the participants and the head of the international department of DSMU Raisat Kurbanova.
