Excursion for schoolchildren to the blood transfusion station

16.06.2025

261

Activists from the career guidance and donor departments of the Volunteer Centre of the Dagestan State Medical University organised an excursion for schoolchildren to the blood transfusion station.

The event was aimed at introducing students to the work of the institution and creating an understanding of the social significance of donation.

About thirty volunteers gave the children a tour of the building where donations are performed. The children learnt about the process of collection, processing and storage of blood and its components, as well as the strict medical and ethical standards of donor activity.

The excursion raised students’ awareness of donation and motivated them to participate in the future. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of donation as a humane and socially responsible act that can save lives. Zaira Tintinova and Ibragim Magomedov spoke about the work of the donor department. They explained the process of blood donation, donor eligibility criteria, as well as the stages of preparation and use of donor material for patient treatment.

The volunteers explained in an accessible way how donated blood saves lives, emphasising the need for regular participation. The meeting with specialists helped schoolchildren to better understand professions in medicine and transfusiology, inspiring them to make an informed choice of their future career.

An important part of the event was a career guidance meeting with students Arslanali Teleyev and Magomed Gamzalaev. They described in detail the professions related to medicine, as well as the knowledge and skills required for this sphere.

Such events contribute to the formation of an informed attitude to health, mutual assistance and civic responsibility among young people. This excursion to the blood transfusion station was an important step in career guidance of schoolchildren and popularisation of donation. The students not only learnt about medical aspects, but also realised the value of voluntary help.

Such initiatives strengthen social responsibility and culture of donation among young people. At the end of the tour the children asked many questions and received comprehensive answers from the staff, which made the event even more informative and interesting.
