At the Scientific and Educational Innovation Center of Dagestan State Medical University, a «Dialogue on Equal Terms: from Student to Specialist» was held, organized by activists of the Volunteer Center of DSMU.

Mirza Murachuev, President of the Association of Oncologists of the Republic of Dagestan, Head of the Department of Breast Tumors of the Oncological Center of the Republic of Dagestan, Assistant of the Department of Oncology with Improvement of Doctors of the Children’s Medical University, became an invited expert. His extensive knowledge and deep understanding of the intricacies of the profession made him an ideal mentor for aspiring professionals.

During the seminar, vital questions were raised regarding the daily practice of the doctor and the challenges facing him. Participants discussed how to cope with inevitable medical errors while maintaining motivation, and also studied real strategies for effectively supporting patients in advanced stages of diseases. Particular attention was paid to the main mistakes of novice oncologists — from excessive responsibility to professional emotional burnout. Sensitive topics such as fears, feelings of powerlessness and the first losses in the profession, which are an integral part of the path of any doctor, were not spared. This frank dialogue dispelled many myths and illusions, showing that oncology is not only the sphere of heroism, but also the work of ordinary people with their doubts and valuable experience.

At the end of the meeting, the students felt much more confident in choosing a future specialization, mastered new techniques for communicating with difficult patients and expressed a sincere desire to repeat the event. Mirza Azhubovich, summing up, stressed: «The main thing that I wanted to convey to you is not to be afraid of difficulties. Your mission is noble, and each of you is capable of becoming the doctor who truly changes lives for the better.»
