The International Sports Festival ‘Friendship’ for the Cup of the Mayor of Makhachkala among foreign students of higher educational institutions of the republic was held on 27 April 2025 in the sports complex of the Dagestan State Medical University. Within the framework of the event organised by the city administration, foreign students of Dagestan universities competed in badminton, table tennis, chess, tug of war, relay race and football.

The teams of Dagestan State Medical University, Dagestan State Technical University, Dagestan State Pedagogical University, Dagestan State University, Dagestan State University of National Economy and Dagestan State Agrarian University participated in the festival.

The team of DSMU was represented by 28 students and received the main prize — the Cup of the Head of Makhachkala, and also took prizes in the following sports:

Badminton:

— in men’s competition: I place Walid Khan (India) and Sirajudin Jaasir Ahmed (India);

— in the women’s competition: first place Soni Nandani (India) and Tiwari Yamini (India).

Chess:

— In men’s competition: first place Mushayabasa Nico (Zimbabwe), second place Moyo Thabo Jojo (Zimbabwe);

— in women’s competition: I place Al Khorani Sara (Syria), II place Cakmak Fatma (Turkey).

Table tennis:

— in men’s competition: I place Mee Arumun (Nigeria), II place Sultonbekov Bekzodbek (Uzbekistan);

— In women’s competition: I place Cakmak Fatma (Turkey), II place Mamurova Hayitkhon (Uzbekistan).

Games relay — I place Kapoor Pranavanshulendraditya (India), Singh Tapish Kumar (India), Mamurova Hayithon (Uzbekistan), Tiwari Yamini (India), Soni Nandani (India) and Rimtemaji Naotoiem Sousses (Chad).

Tug of war — III place Nadri Nasr-Allah (Syria), Hasanli Nariman (Azerbaijan), Elboreim Karam (Palestine), Sayyad Abid (India), Dipanshu (India) and Ismailov Azad (Azerbaijan).

Football — III place Ikpah Daniel Uche (Nigeria), Dasetima-Altrade Edward (Nigeria), Obeke Chukwuebuka Wisdom Daniel (Nigeria), Ezeh Tobechukwu Henry (Nigeria), Touray Sulaiman (Gambia), Omokaro Victor (Nigeria), Mushayabasa Nico (Zimbabwe), Mee Arumun (Nigeria) and Dingambe Moise Moalbai (Chad).

Head of Makhachkala Administration Yusup Umavov Dzhanbekovich was present at the awarding ceremony. He expressed his great gratitude to the Rector of Dagestan State Medical University Visampasha Khanaliev for providing the sports centre to host the tournament.

The students demonstrated not only sports skills, but also competitive spirit and excellent preparation. The competitions were held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, becoming a true celebration of sport and international co-operation.
