Dagestan State Medical University hosted an anatomy and histology Olympiad for 1st year dental students. The II annual Olympiad ‘Medical venatus’ named after Tagir Saidullakhovich Huseynov by the Trade Union Committee and student community of the university with the support of the management and the organising departments gathered representatives of many departments, guests and family friends in the Biological Building of the university.

The event started with welcoming speeches and memorable words about the former head of the Department of Human Anatomy on behalf of Rector Visampasha Khanaliev by Vice-Rectors Elmira Akhmedova and Amurbek Kachabekov. Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology Tagir Abakarov, Head of the Sirona Dental Clinic Kurban Khalidov, Head of the Republican Children’s Dental Polyclinic Patimat Bashirova and Heads of the Departments of Human Anatomy and Histology Sabina Huseynova and Ruslan Shahbanov greeted the guests and gave advice to the participants.

After the performances of the activists of the Cultural Centre of DSMU, who enlivened the hall with their songs, Fatima Ibragimova, a 3rd year dental student, made a presentation for the guests ‘Life and work of Tagir Saidullakhovich Huseynov’.

After that the most interesting part of the day began — 4 exciting stages full of tasks to test intuition, knowledge of subjects, logic and practical skills.

The teams ‘Sons of Galen’, ‘Primum’, ‘Solar Plexus’, ‘Atlant’, ‘Alveolaris’, ‘Dens Serpentis’ were able to test themselves in the competitions ‘Brain-Ring’, ‘Black Box’, ‘Traffic Light’ and ‘Clinical Challenge!’. They helped the jury to identify the best prepared team.

The team that determined the winners included Shakhrizat Taimazova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Human Anatomy of DSMU, Aida Ganieva, Madina Mavraeva, Angela Esedova, Associate Professors of this Department, Suvarzhat Shakhnazarova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Histology, Tagir Dibirov, Associate Professor, and Khadijat Suleymanova and Saida Akayeva, Assistants of this Department.

After several hours of hard work, scoring and heated discussions, the jury representatives announced the results. According to the results of the day, the 1st place was taken by the team ‘Atlant’, the 2nd place — by the team ‘Sons of Galen’, and the 3rd — by ‘Primum’. The winners received certificates of honour, the possibility of exemption from exams in human anatomy and histology with a mark of ‘excellent’ and additional memorable prizes.

The Olympiad was an excellent platform for students, allowing them to test their knowledge and skills, as well as strengthen the spirit of teamwork and competition. This event once again emphasised the importance of education and active participation of young people in academic life, as well as immortalised the memory of an outstanding teacher and person — Tagir Saidullakhovich Huseynov.
