The DSMU Scientific Library hosted a military-patriotic evening, «The Heart Tells You to Remember,» dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people over fascism.

The event was opened by the library’s director, Venera Musayeva. She welcomed everyone on behalf of DSMU Rector Visampasha Khanaliev and noted the importance of such events: «Today, on the eve of the Great Victory, we meet to honor the memory of all who bore the horrors of war and brought the long-awaited Victory closer! The victory of good over evil! May 9th will forever remain the greatest and brightest holiday in every family of all generations, one that time itself cannot cancel. Our memory connects the past and the future. And today, the participants of the SMO have accomplished feats worthy of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, the generation of victors of the Great Patriotic War. I sincerely congratulate everyone on this great holiday! May our hearts beat in time with the heart of our Motherland, and may our children and grandchildren remember the resilience and courage of our people and be proud of the exploits of its heroes! May the younger generation live long and happy lives. May they never know what the word «war» means, may they never hear the explosions of artillery shells, may all mothers live to see their sons!»

With a moment of silence, to the sounds of the metronome, those present honored the memory of the fallen heroes, brave warriors, true soldiers, and patriots of their country.

Library staff prepared and presented a presentation, «The Heart Tells You to Remember,» dedicated to the events of that distant wartime and the special military operation. The book exhibition, «Victory Lives in Everyone’s Heart,» featured memoirs and recollections of front-line soldiers, fiction, and poetry on war themes.

The students then took part in a military poetry and music program: Patimat Gairbekova, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention and an activist in the student sector of the DSMU Trade Union, read her own poem and Stanislav Zvyagintsev’s «In Memory of the Fallen Soldiers of the SVO.» Second-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine, Asmarat Gamzatova and Amina Abdullayeva, recited Musa Jalil’s «Barbarism» and Georgy Rublev’s «Monument.» The evening’s hosts, Marat Telekavov, a fifth-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics, read Nikolai Sotskov’s poem «A Soldier Doesn’t Choose War,» and Kamila Gadzhieva, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, performed a musical composition, «Clouds in Blue,» and also emotionally recited the poem, «Pass it on to Your Descendants!»

Staff from the Department of General Hygiene and Human Ecology, Zarema Surkhaeva, Uma Magomedova, Aishat Magomedova, and Patimat Ibragimova, as well as activists from the student sector of the Primary Trade Union Organization and the cultural department of the creative association «Zvezda,» led by Kamila Gadzhieva, also participated in organizing the event.
