On June 30, the House of Friendship hosted the II Conference of the participants of the NGO «Heroes of our Time!» with the participation of the Head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov, heads of municipalities and departments of the republic, military personnel and their families, heads of government bodies and public organizations, as well as the rector of DSMU, Professor Visampasha Khanaliev. The main goal of the conference is to increase the effectiveness of providing comprehensive assistance and support to ITS participants and their families.

Sergey Melikov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. «Exactly one year ago, we gathered in the same hall to discuss topical issues of support for the participants of the SVR and their family members. Serious changes have taken place over the past year, and we have gained significant experience in solving problems, received a lot of feedback and suggestions, and most importantly, we were able to outline specific ways to develop the republic and the region in this area. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin declared 2025 the Year of Defender of the Fatherland, which once again underlines the importance of the ongoing work to support those who honorably perform their military duty and protect the integrity of the state,» said the Head of the region. He also recalled the heroism of Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Suleymanov, who was awarded the title of Hero of Russia (posthumously). He became the 14th native of Dagestan to receive this high rank since the beginning of his military career. The participants honored the memory of the deceased countrymen with a minute of silence.

The participants were also awarded during the conference. The event was accompanied by concert performances, a mini-film about the heroism of the participants, and video messages from the SVO fighters from the front. After the plenary session of the conference, the participants continued their work in thematic sections: social protection, medicine, education and other areas. The event ended with a press conference by the head of the republic. In particular, Sergey Melikov answered questions about the plans for the construction of a rehabilitation center for the participants of the special operation, as well as his wishes to the participants of the special operation.
