On June 7-8, the IX scientific-practical conference with international participation ‘Topical issues in paediatrics and children’s surgery’ was held in the Scientific and Educational Accreditation Centre of Dagestan State Medical University.

The participants of the conference were young doctors, associate professors and professors in the field of paediatrics and paediatric surgery.

Naida Mollayeva, Prorector of Scientific Work, addressed the participants of the conference on behalf of the Rector of DSMU Visampasha Khanaliev: ‘Dear colleagues, participants and guests of the conference, I welcome you to the Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical Issues of Paediatrics and Children’s Surgery” dedicated to the significant date — 55th anniversary of the Paediatric Faculty of DSMU!

This anniversary is not just a milestone in the history of the Faculty, it is a symbol of continuity of generations of doctors, teachers, scientists, who devoted themselves to the noble cause of children’s health care. 55 years are thousands of graduated specialists, thousands of saved children’s lives, thousands of scientific discoveries and achievements that have made an invaluable contribution to the development of paediatrics and paediatric surgery not only in our region, but also far beyond its borders.

Today’s conference is a unique platform for sharing experience, discussing the most pressing issues of modern paediatrics and paediatric surgery, finding new ways to solve the complex problems we face.  The conference programme includes speeches by leading specialists, reports by young scientists, master classes, round tables dedicated to the most acute and important topics.

I am convinced that the conference will become a bright event in the scientific life of our medical community, will contribute to: improving the quality of medical care for children; introduction of innovative technologies in practical healthcare; strengthening cooperation between scientific and practical institutions; professional growth of young specialists.

I wish all conference participants fruitful work, interesting discussions, new ideas and discoveries! May your knowledge and experience serve the further development of paediatrics and paediatric surgery for the benefit of our children’s health,’ N. Mollayeva said.

Naida Mollayeva also highly appreciated the active work of student scientific circles of Dagestan State Medical University and the Faculty of Paediatrics, stressing their significant contribution to the development of science and medicine, as well as to the professional development of young specialists.

The guests of the event joined in congratulations on the anniversary of the Paediatrics Faculty: Abdurashid Ganiev — Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Children’s Diseases and Polyclinic Paediatrics of the Andijan State Medical Institute; Gadzhi Letifov — Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology of the Rostov State Medical University; Lyudmila Panova — Professor of the Department of Hospital Paediatrics of the Bashkir State Medical University, Ali Ferzauli — Head of the Department of Hospital Surgery of the Medical University of Bashkortostan, Ali Ferzauli — Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology of the Bashkir State Medical University.

Further, the staff of the departments of the Paediatric Faculty were awarded with letters of thanks from Dagestan State Medical University. Dean of the Paediatrics Faculty Alimkhan Muskhadzhiev was awarded the Diploma of DSMU.

The solemn opening of the conference continued with a festive concert.  Activists of the Centre of Culture of DSMU — Daniyal Shabanov and Samira Ramazanova performed a musical congratulation in honour of the anniversary of the Paediatrics Faculty, singing 2 songs.

Within the framework of the conference Ruslan Shahbanov, Chairman of the Joint Trade Union Committee of DSMU, made a congratulatory speech in honour of the 70th anniversary of Alaudin Aliskandiev, Head of the Department of Faculty and Hospital Paediatrics.

Panova; ‘Features of the course of epidemic parotitis in one family: clinical observation’ — L.U. Ulukhanova; ‘Routing and diagnosis of chronic purulent hydroadenitis in adolescents. Differential diagnosis with actinomycosis’ — V.E. Sharipova; ’An ophthalmologist’s view of measles. From redness to blindness’ — S.I. Sharipova; ’Stage correction of multiple congenital malformations. Case description’ — S.A. Gebekova;

The presentations aroused keen interest of the audience. At the end of each presentation, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers. The conference resulted in the publication of a collection of scientific papers devoted to topical issues of paediatrics and paediatric surgery.
