A bright and informative meeting of the «Family and Career / Family vs Career» conversation club was held at the DSMU Research and Educational Innovation Center. The event was organized by the Foreign Department of the DSMU Volunteer Center. Students had the opportunity to practice their English and discuss important topics with like-minded individuals. The main part of the program focused on one of the most relevant and profound questions in life. The participants discussed whether it is possible to achieve success in medicine without sacrificing personal happiness. The choice of the topic is determined by the specifics of the children’s future profession: the work of a doctor requires tremendous dedication, which often jeopardizes family well-being. The discussion began with a brief theoretical introduction, after which the activists of the Volunteer Center presented various points of view existing in the global community. During the discussion, the volunteers not only moderated discussions in small teams, but also helped participants overcome the language barrier by sharing interesting speech constructions and complex terms. A special emphasis was placed on intercultural exchange, as the views on the priorities of «home-work» vary significantly depending on national traditions and mentality. Each participant was able to express their position by practicing spontaneous speech and argumentation skills in English.

In conclusion, it is worth noting the high level of youth participation. The meeting ended with warm words of gratitude to the organizers, whose enthusiasm made the evening truly lively and memorable. The main goal of the event was not only to improve linguistic skills, but also to foster a conscious approach to planning one’s life. The guests left with a sense of inspiration, noting that such meetings help them find answers to important questions and feel supported by like-minded individuals.
