Sultan Khamzaev met with students of DSMU

On March 26, a meeting between State Duma Deputy Sultan Khamzaev and students was held at the Dagestan State Medical University. The event, opened by Elmira Akhmedova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, was held in the format of an open dialogue, where future medical professionals were able to ask the parliamentarian any questions they were interested in. The parliamentarian began the conversation by praising the profession chosen by the students, emphasizing its nobility and social significance. «The direction is good and correct — people’s health. I believe that this is a noble mission: On the one hand, it is about serving others, and on the other hand, it is about developing oneself,» said Khamzaev to the audience. During the conversation, the quality of training and human resources were discussed. The deputy noted the high level of training at the Dagestan Medical University, but also emphasized the challenges of the profession. A special focus was on the employment and support system for young doctors. Khamzaev provided data on the situation with targeted training, highlighting the existing problems with the distribution of graduates.

Speaking about financial aspects, the parliamentarian recalled the measures to support medical professionals during the pandemic and emphasized the need to preserve social guarantees. He also touched upon the topic of professional ethics and the doctor’s internal responsibility. «The work you have taken on requires you to be selfless in the best sense of the word,» said Khamzaev. The students took the opportunity to ask questions on various topics. In particular, the meeting discussed not only educational standards and salaries, but also broader social issues such as the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction, the legal aspects of medical institutions, and political issues. At the end of the meeting, Sultan Khamzaev encouraged his future colleagues to go beyond their limitations, develop professionally, and strive for high standards.
