On Thursday, September 11, the All-Russian scientific and practical conference «Russian Week of Transfusiology. Focus on diagnostics.» During the event, leading experts from the region, led by Tatyana Gaponova, chief freelance transfusiologist at the Russian Ministry of Health, and colleagues from around the country, will discuss modern methods of laboratory diagnostics in the blood service, ensuring the infectious and viral safety of donated blood, standards and quality control of laboratory tests. Special attention will be paid to future technologies: automation and informatization of laboratory processes.

In his video message to the conference participants, Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, noted that the Blood Service is an ever-growing huge family.

«Thus, according to statistics for 2024, the number of donors amounted to almost 1.5 million, which is 6.3% higher than the same indicator for 2023. The number of donations of blood and its components increased by 4.5% to 3.5 million, which allowed 2.8 million liters of whole blood to be harvested. In 2024, the number of gratuitous donations exceeded the 99% milestone!

Transfusiology has long ceased to be a narrow medical field and has become one of the key healthcare disciplines providing a high level of medical care. Its development is directly related to ensuring patient safety, improving the quality of medical care and preserving the health of the nation. That is why it is so important to hold events of this format, allowing specialists to exchange scientific discoveries and clinical observations, as well as to discuss new approaches to regulatory regulation within the framework of a meeting of the relevant commission of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on the specialty «Transfusiology».

The safety of transfusions in modern medicine can be ensured by several basic approaches to the procurement of components: selection of donors, mandatory laboratory tests of 100% of donated blood samples and the use of modern methods of additional processing of donated blood, such as leukoreduction, inactivation of pathogenic biological agents, irradiation.

To improve the quality of services provided, it is necessary to implement a quality management system based on the practical recommendations of Roszdravnadzor.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan Abdurakhmanmakhmudov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Dagestan Yaroslav Glazov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan on Health, Labor and Social Policy Magomed Magomedov also addressed the participants of the conference. Vice Rector for Science Naida Mollayeva greeted the audience on behalf of Visampashi Khanaliev, Rector of Dagestan State Medical University. She noted that modern transfusiology is a dynamically developing field of medicine, where diagnostic accuracy is the cornerstone of patient safety. «The chosen topic — «Focus on diagnostics» — is more relevant than ever. It reflects the transition from traditional approaches to high-tech, molecular genetic methods that personalize transfusion therapy and minimize risks,» Mollayeva said and wished the conference participants bright presentations, constructive discussions, interesting acquaintances and, of course, new professional discoveries that will be translated into practical healthcare.
