The conference «Actual aspects of diabetology» was held at DSMU

On November 15, 2021, the scientific and educational innovation Center of Dagestan State Medical University hosted a conference «Current aspects of diabetology» dedicated to the Day of the Fight against Diabetes.

The conference was opened by the welcoming speech of the Acting Rector of DSMU Razin Ragimov, who noted the importance of the topic under discussion. «Diabetes mellitus is an extremely serious disease that can occur at any age and last a lifetime. This disease is one of the three diseases that most often lead to disability of the population and death. Therefore, the issues discussed at today’s conference are very relevant and timely. I wish the conference a successful and productive work,» he said.

The conference discussed the issues of pathogenesis, diagnosis, modern approaches to the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications, the influence of environmental factors on the endocrine sphere of a person, risk factors affecting the formation of health, preventive strategies in healthcare and measures aimed at reducing mortality from diabetes mellitus, issues of the register of diabetes mellitus.

During the event, leading lecturers made presentations and master classes: Professors A. Ametov (Moscow), A. Volkova, Academician I.P. Pavlov (St. Petersburg). The reports were devoted to practical aspects of the treatment and management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Associate professors V. Kudinov and K. Kamalov also made presentations on insulin therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus and pleiotropic effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 —2 inhibitors. Organizational aspects of maintaining the DM register were discussed in the speech of the chief physician of the Republican Endocrinological Center E. Magomedova.
