A mini-football tournament dedicated to the memory of an outstanding professor, R.P. Askerkhanov, has ended at Dagestan State Medical University. The competition was held from 3 to 11 June at the DSMU football ground and brought together students and doctors

The tournament was organized by the DSMU Sports Club, the Department of Physical Education and Sports Medicine of DSMU with the support of the Committee on Youth Affairs of DSMU and the R.P. Askerkhanov Medical Center. The purpose of the event was to popularize and develop mini-football, strengthen friendly ties, promote an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as identify the best football players for the formation of the DSMU national football team

The tournament was attended by 20 student teams from different faculties and 9 teams of doctors from various clinics.

The tournament was held according to the Olympic system (relegation). The matches were played in a 5-on-5 format, each match consisted of two halves of 10 minutes of «dirty» time (semifinals and finals – 15-20 minutes), with a 5-minute break. Each team consists of up to 10 people. Tournament rules: The player who received the red card missed the next match. In the final, the student teams of the Iskra Sparta Faculty of Medicine and the Al-Aqsa Faculty of Dentistry met. The teams of the pediatric faculty «Pediatrics» and the medical faculty «An-Nur» competed for the third place.

Among the doctors, the teams of the Umud Medical Center and the Dental Clinic of Dental Dental fought for the title of champion in the final. The team of the R.P. Askerkhanov Medical Clinic won the third place, having beaten the team of the Republican Clinical Hospital in the match held on June 10. Following the results of the final game among the students, the first place was taken by the team of Iskry Sparta, the second place was taken by the team of Al-Aqsa, the third place was taken by the team of Pediatrics. Among the doctors, the first place was taken by the Umud team, and the second place was taken by the Dental Dental team.

The organizers noted the high level of training of the participants and expressed confidence that the tournament would become a good tradition of the university, contributing to the popularization of a healthy lifestyle and strengthening friendly ties. The R.P. Askerkhanov Medical Center became the general sponsor of the tournament.
