On March 5, 2026, the Dagestan State Medical University hosted the IV Republican Scientific and Practical Conference «Pharmacy and Prevention: Two Fronts of the Fight Against Drug Addiction,» which was held on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was held at the Scientific and Educational Innovation Center of the DSMU and brought together more than 150 participants, including representatives from the Ministries of Health and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, narcological and psychoneurological dispensaries, law enforcement agencies, public organizations, and university faculty and students.

The rector of DSMU, Professor Visampasha Khanaliev, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, who emphasized the complex nature of the drug addiction problem and the importance of coordinating the efforts of the pharmaceutical and medical communities. «Drug addiction is a scourge that knows no boundaries. It destroys health, destinies, families, and undermines the security of society. And the fight against it requires an integrated approach, in which each link is crucial. Today we are talking about two such links – pharmacy and prevention,» Visampasa Yusupovich said.

The plenary session was attended by the heads of relevant departments of the region: S.B. Omarova, Chief Physician of the Republican Narcological Dispensary of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, chief freelance psychiatrist and narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Dagestan; N.V. Seifudinova, Head of the Drug Addiction Prevention and Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan; G.A. Tazhibov– Assistant to the Chairman of the Makhachkala City Meetings; A.U. Ramazanov – consultant to the Department of Civil and Political Education and Preventive Programs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan; D.M. Rizvanov — doctor at the Republican Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
