On Wednesday, December 8, an Olympiad in urology with individual participation was held in the Morphological Building of Dagestan State Medical University. The Olympiad organized by the department and the student scientific circle in urology, gave students of the pediatric and medical faculty an opportunity to show their knowledge of one of the difficult discipline urology.

At the opening of the Olympiad, the head of the department Kamil Arbuliev made a welcoming speech on behalf of the acting rector of DSMU Visampashi Khanaliev. «Today’s event is not just a competition, it is new acquaintances and exchange of experience. I wish you all good luck!».

For the most objective assessment of the contestants, the jury of the Olympiad included teachers of the Department of Urology Anvar Gamzatov, urologist-oncologist Magomedali Alibekov and Nabi Gusniev, head of the department Kamil Arbuliev, assistant of the Department of Faculty and Hospital Pediatrics Murad Abdulmuslimov and the head of the scientific circle on urology Daglar Shamilov.

The Olympiad consisted of 3 parts: Stage 1 — testing, stage 2 — situational tasks, stage 3 — radiation diagnostics. The jury evaluated the works first on a point system, then the points were converted into percentages.

«Urology as a whole is one of the specialties that require mastering professional practical skills. A high-class doctor is formed at the junction of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Such Olympiads increase the level of practical training of all students, the university thus identifies the best guys in order to recommend them to employers in the future or invite them to work at the university in order to pass on the experience to new students,» said the acting rector of DSMU Visampasha Khanaliev.

As a result of the students’ successful completion of all tests, the winners were determined. A student of the Faculty of Pediatrics Abdurazak Magomedov  became the first; a student of the Faculty of Medicine Kamila Akhmadova took the second place; and the third place of honor was awarded to a student of the Faculty of Medicine Arzu Sabir-Kyzy. It is worth noting that the participants demonstrated deep knowledge of the discipline, showed ingenuity and showed practical skills when performing tasks.

At the end of awarding the winners of the Olympiad, the head of the scientific circle on urology Daglar Shamilov was also awarded thanks for organizing it.
