On May 6, 2026, the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, with the support of the university’s staff and student trade union, held the «Roads of Memory» intra-university brain ring in the subject «History of Russia» at the DSMU Scientific and Educational Innovation Center. First-year students from the Faculties of General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Dentistry participated in the event, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In addition to the department’s staff, the event was attended by Vice-Rector for Educational and Social Work Amurbek Kachabekov and Chairman of the United Trade Union Committee Ruslan Shakhbanov.

The goal of such competitions is to test students’ knowledge of the events of the Great Patriotic War, the history of Russia and Dagestan, and to enhance patriotism and civic engagement in the younger generation, helping them develop immunity against extremism and radicalism. Telman Kafarov, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, welcomed those present on behalf of Rector Visampasha Khanaliev and emphasized the importance of knowledge of Russian history, the preservation of historical memory, and the themes of the Great Patriotic War and the Soviet people’s struggle against fascism, which remain relevant today. This is especially important given the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War and the ongoing Soviet Military Operation.

The brain-ring competition consisted of four stages. Stage 1 – «Their Names Went Down in the History of the Great Patriotic War» – questions for the teams. Stage 2 – «They Brought Victory Closer» – quizzes. Stage 3 – a blitz questionnaire. Stage 4 – an essay on «Dagestan and Dagestanis During the Great Patriotic War» (each team submitted one feat of a Great Patriotic War hero).

Five teams participating in the Brain Ring (three from the Faculty of General Medicine, one each from the Faculty of Pediatrics and one from the Faculty of Dentistry) demonstrated excellent knowledge of various aspects of the Great Patriotic War. The jury, led by Professor T. Kafarov, objectively and fairly assessed the participants’ knowledge.

The Chairman of the Trade Union Committee, Ruslan Kazbekovich, concluded the event. He noted that the Department of Philosophy and Humanities is working hard to promote patriotic and moral education, holding various events commemorating the most important dates and events in our country’s history.

The students took the upcoming game seriously and prepared extensively. As a result, the team from the Faculty of Pediatrics took first place, teams from the 2nd and 3rd streams of the Faculty of General Medicine took second place, and teams from the 1st stream of the Faculty of General Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry took third place.

The winners received certificates.

At the end, they took a group photo to commemorate the event.
