On 28 February 2025, the Volunteer Centre of Dagestan State Medical University organised a screening of the film «Healthy Fasting without Stress! How to prepare your body and spirit for the holy month of Ramadan?».

Ramadan is a month of spiritual purification, self-control and compassion, when Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk. However, the transition to fasting can be difficult without preparation.

The film presented at the event provided guidance from medical experts and spiritual leaders. It tells how to properly prepare the body and spirit for Ramadan in order to fast without harm to health or stress. In the lecture, scientists spoke about the importance of a balanced diet, moderate exercise and psychological preparation.

As one of the students put it: «The holy month has an amazing power: the good deeds and intentions laid down in this holy month bear quick fruit. Noble qualities become fixed in our character and actions and continue to develop and strengthen even after Ramadan is over.

After the screening, the medics actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing their thoughts. Many noted that such events help them better understand the traditions and values of Islam and learn how to apply them in their daily lives. The organisers also prepared handouts with tips on preparing for Ramadan, which students could take with them. Everyone shared their experiences and useful tips on how to make this month more productive and meaningful.

At the end of the event, the attendees expressed their gratitude to the organisers for the useful information and the opportunity to discuss important topics in a friendly atmosphere.

Attending such events strengthens the student body, brings the participants closer together and helps to find like-minded people and make new friends. The Volunteer Centre plans to continue holding such events to support students in their quest for self-improvement and strengthening of spiritual values.
