Dagestan State Medical University today is one of the largest educational, scientific and medical centers in the south of the country. DSMU is a university with a rich history of more than 90 years, a university with its own scientific and educational innovation center, a medical college, a medical training center, hundreds of patents for developments, etc. More than 6 thousand students study here in 5 specialties: General medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Preventive medicine and Pharmacy. Classes are conducted both in classical lecture halls with visual aids, as well as in specialized classrooms and an anatomical museum. The university has a highly qualified teaching staff. 706 teachers work at 78 departments, including 66 professors, 179 associate professors, 418 candidates of medical sciences, 116 doctors of medical Sciences.
International cooperation is one of the priority areas of activity. Currently, hundreds of foreign citizens from more than 40 countries are studying at the university. For nonresident and foreign students, DSMU provides dormitories with all the necessary conditions for comfortable living and leisure.
